La casa amarilla - Granada |
Ancient sugar industry - Granada. My great-grandfather was Belgian, and my great-grandmother French. At late 19th century the sugar beet industry grew up in Granada, (
read the history here) and expertized people was needed there. My great-grandfather, Arthur Baeyens, was chemist, and the inventor of how extract alcohol from the sugar beet. Then he came to Granada in 1889, and build the "Yellow House" (
link), today an experimental station. Mi grandmother, María Baeyens Guilmäin, told me a lot of stories. One of them very, very curious in the next post.
