Z-66 - TRYING TO GET YOU

Banded in Mallorca during 1966 by Vicenç Caldentey (guitar), Leopoldo González (bass), Gerónimo (organ), Tito (drums), and Pedro Brunet (sax). The band has as main scope Mallorca, and loved the soul and psychedelic. "Los Z-66" had a famous singer: Lorenzo Roselló, a.k.a Lorenzo Santamaría, with a later career as solist. They covered English psichedelic bands, such as Vainilla Fudge, The Move, or The Herd. In 1967 the band suffered many changes: a new drummer (Manolo Marí), Pep Noguera (keyboards), and the saxman Manolo Martínez ("Ness"). Their best year was 1968. Lorenzo Santamaría tells us his meeting with Eric burdon in 1968 at The Club Toltec (Mallorca):

In The Toltec, a day came Eric Burdon, the singer of The Animals. I bought an Burdon echo [...] He said me as follows: The echo is into your throat, not in the apparatus.

ZEBRA - BAD BAD TIME

Zebra, from Mallorca, were a band made of two pieces Z-66 and Los Bravos = Zee + Bra, and with great musicians, such as Joan Bibiloni (leader, vocal and guitar), Agustí Fernández (keyboards), Albert Candela (bass), David Walmsley (guitar) and Manolo Marí (drums). With an spanlife from 1972 to 1976, they became a progressive band, but also a pop-rock. They covered "bad, bad time" by The Roulettes. This song (February 1964) has become The Roulettes´ most famous song, but more because of its inclusion on beat compilations than because of chart success.

LOS ZZ-66 - HE SIDO HERIDO reloaded

In 1970, The ZZ-66 launched his version of 1969 Bill Deal & The Rhondels I've been hurt. This band was formed at Mallorca in 1966. Original members were: Vicente Caldentey (guitar), Pedro Brunet (sax), Leopoldo González (bass) and Tito on the drums. Later, a new member, Lorenzo Santamaría, became the leader of the band, after a concert at Whiskey a Gó-Go, a music hall of Mallorca.
The band specialized on English hits versions, for the entertainment of the tourists. Nevertheless, they experimented new alternatives influenced by progressive bands, such as Vanilla Fudge, and Blood, Sweet and Tears. First EP was recorded in 1968 Barcelona, including Give a little sign, Mister Bus Driver, Todos hablaran (a version from The Dave Clark Five), and Desde el otro mundo (a version from The Herd).
