My wife and I ussually rest here when we have few days. Is a 16th century palace. The house is located in Aguilafuente (Segovia), and the owners are our friends. In Aguilafuente was printed a book (Libro del Sinodo) for the first time in Spain.

JKO and friends. France 1949.

Jackie Kennedy Onassis (hereafter JKO). Let me, please, tell you this story detailled as far as I can. My grandma María, and her sisters (Farailda, Charlotte, Julia) received a several and catholic education. During their youth some of them did 2-weeks summer catholic exercises in Europe (France, Belguim...), along with similars young women. 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951... till they were 18. In these exercises were young americans too, such as JKO. The last summer JKO and one of my great-aunts were close friends, and, before JKO went back to USA, was invited to Granada to visit my family. The friendship between them follow up later, and both sent several letters one to the other. In one of these letters JKO said that she knew a young senador who wants to be President. In other letter, she said that she will marry with him!

Ancient sugar industry - Granada. My great-grandfather was Belgian, and my great-grandmother French. At late 19th century the sugar beet industry grew up in Granada, (read the history here) and expertized people was needed there. My great-grandfather, Arthur Baeyens, was chemist, and the inventor of how extract alcohol from the sugar beet. Then he came to Granada in 1889, and build the "Yellow House" (link), today an experimental station. Mi grandmother, María Baeyens Guilmäin, told me a lot of stories.One of them very, very curious in the next post.

The moon over the olive threes. To take a walk falling the night, and sorrounded by thousands of olive threes is something magic. Really! They give you a comfortable heat, while silence is broken by the birds. What an experience! I usually do this everytime I go to my homeland. It is one of my secrets.

Picture: Villa del Río - Ermita. Someones say that this little church is settled on an ancient muslim cemetery. A legend also says that if you marry there, the place bring misfortunes to you in two possibles ways: your wife leave you, or you lost a child.
