LA LUPE - TOUCH ME

Lupe Victoria Yoli Raymond, "La Lupe"(December 23, 1939-February 23, 1992) is one of my favourites singers. She was famous in Cuba before her moving to USA. She started his career with the LP "Con el diablo en el cuerpo" (1960- Discuba Records). In 1964 she recorded "Watermelon man" with Mongo Santamaría.

LOS DIABLOS NEGROS - SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROLL

Los Diablos Negros were the most shaking band of Madrid. His followers danced and screamed in his performances, currently ended in uproar. They should have gone much further if they were been able to take seriously his musical career. Coming from good-family men, living in the high society neighborhood "El Retiro",  they banded a group called The Vultures, acting in school festivals, and places like that. They were: Manolo Pelayo (vocals and guitar), Paco Candela (guitar, vocals), Victor Gines "Vitín" (bass), and Jose Inclan (drums). In 1962 Vitín leave his room to Luis Maria  Herranz, and then the band will be renamed The Black Stars and soon Los Diablos Negros. Let us listen their cover of "Shake, rattle and roll" (1965). By the way, I upload other cover I love: the one done by Fats Domino.

LOS CONTINENTALES - EL MILLONARIO

Initially banded in 1962 by Álvaro Yébenes (guitar), Ángel Arriba (guitar), Juan Antonio -Ñique- González (bass), and Rafael Sánchez-Ocaña (drums), they highlighted as an instrumental rock band. During 1963, they currently played in several clubs at Madrid. In December of this year, they played in "Los Festivales de Música Moderna" (Circo Price), along with Los Tonys. In their 2nd concert during the  the sunday shows at Circo Price, they played after "Los Diablos Negros", a fashion band then, being refused by the people, just till they started to play their guitar. From then on, they were accepted. “El millonario”  is a cover of the British band The Dakotas, full of rhythm, and solist guitar Álvaro masterfully plucking.

LOS HURACANES - LA GORDA

Today, a song named "The fat woman" would seems something incorrect. Nevertheless, it was not in 1971. Los Huracanes launched this nice song, as de B side of a 45 that had as A Side a cover of The Tremeloes, "Hello Buddy".

THE WALFLOWER COMPLEXTION - EL CAIMÁN

The Walflower Complextion is a great garage bandfrom Colombia from mid-60s. They played being between 14 and 17 old, and the were originally from US, but settled in Colombia. Their rude sound was attractive for Daro Records. This company allowed them a LP with songs ostly cover of other famous english bands, but also with "el caimán", a successfull cumbia then; and a beat cover of "La Bamba". It's very curious to hear this cover in Spanish (nextly in this blog).

THE FLIPPER'S - DANZA A GO GO

The Flippers, from Colombia were a psychedelic band, and an opening member of the Colombian Sixties Rock and Roll. A legend in Colombia. They started in 1965 influenced by the English beat and "New Wave", chanching to a more psychedelic beat sound. Enjoy this jewel from their LP "Discoteque".

LOS GATOS SALVAJES - RUTA A GO-GO

Los Gatos Salvajes (Rosario -Argentine), originally named "Wild Cats" were playing since 1964 in parties, and in English. When Litto Nebla was banded, Los Gatos salvajes had their own songs (both in English, or in Spanish), near to The Holies, The Animals, or The Beatles. They are: Litto Nebla (Tambourine and voices), Ciro Fogliatta (Organ and chorus), Juan Carlos "Chango" Puebla (Guitar), Guillermo Romero (bass), and Tito Adjaiye (drums).
